Patient needs, service requirements and training – are they all the same?

In pursuit of training patient-centred champions of mental health, we adopted a new method of experiential learning. We propose a model of medical undergraduate longitudinal placements as an effective and reproducible approach to training students not just to pass exams, but to be good doctors well equipped to serve the public.
