What are the benefits to DEMEC attendees, your institution and/or to the medical/healthcare community?
NHS is one of the largest employers in the world and has a very diverse workforce. Hitherto, conversations about the diverse workforce have focused on a deficit model – addressing issues such as Differential Attainment and Disproportionate number of disciplinary referrals. As a group, IMGs and ethnic minority trianees and workforce members are more likely to face bullying and harassment – adding to the deficit based formulation.
This symposium will build on the award winning EDI initiatives of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and demonstrate how a values-based leadership programme can lead to embedding strength and belonging focused approach thus helping foster anti-racism, improve educational attainment and address wider factors leading to workforce inequity.
