Prof Mala Rao
Professor Mala Rao is the Director of the Ethnicity and Health Unit, Imperial College London. She is also Visiting Professor, Anglia Ruskin University. Mala is a public health physician and her career has spanned public health practice, policy, research and education in the UK and in the global arena. Her advocacy on race equality in the NHS came to the fore when the review she lead on wellbeing in ethnic minority populations in England was launched by Parliament in 2014. This influenced the launch of the NHSE Workforce Race Equality Strategy advisory group of which she was Vice Chair until she took up the role of Medical Adviser to the General Medical Council.
