A9: Development of Foundation Internship Programme for Physicians Associates in Secondary Care in East of England

Session objectives:

  • Benefits of Physicians Associates Foundation internship in Secondary care for regional retention and support of medical workforce
  • Developing a curriculum and implementation of an online teaching programme to support Physicians Associates in their first year after graduation
  • Evaluation of Foundation internship experience from Physician Associates and secondary care medical workforce 

Session summary:
Physician Associates support the medical workforce, improving junior doctors’ working lives.  With GMC regulation and prescribing on the horizon, the implementation of foundation-like internship could help embed this role into your organisation.  This workshop will share the experiences of East of England in its first year of the programme.
