B15 (6):Using video-communication platforms to deliver learning: are they effective?

Session objectives:

  • To discuss the literatures’ stance on using video-communication platforms to deliver learning to medical students.
  • To recognise the advantages and disadvantages of using video-communication platforms to deliver learning to medical students.
  • To understand the results of a study comparing students’ knowledge performance when taught through video-communication to in-person teaching.

Session summary:
Video-communication platforms like Zoom have provided a solution to continuing medical education during the recent pandemic. We report the results of a study that compared the impact of learning via a video-communication platform to learning via in-person teaching on the knowledge performance of graduate entry medicine students.
