C15 (5): Exploring the perceptions of burnout in Foundation Trainees in Wales. 

Session objectives:

  • To recognise the signs and symptoms of burnout
  • To identify the individual and organisational contributing factors of burnout
  • To appreciate appropriate prevention and management strategies 

Session summary:
The prevalence of burnout in doctors has been increasing in recent years. Foundation doctors are particularly at higher risks as the transition from medical school is demanding. Using a mixed-methods approach, we explored the perceptions of burnout in these doctors in Wales with the aim of developing appropriate management strategies.
