C4: Burnout in medical trainers: Developing understanding and charting a course to enhanced wellbeing

- To increase understanding of prevalence and perceptions of burnout amongst medical trainers of the UK.
- Through group discussion explore the triggers, impact and features of burnout amongst medical trainers
- Be able to develop an action plan and management strategies to support medical trainers suffering with burnout
Session summary:
Building on the research conducted by Cardiff University and HEIW this session will seek to explore the phenomenon of burnout amongst education and clinical supervisors including the presentation, triggers, impact and management strategies. Understanding this phenomenon is critical to the delivery of postgraduate education and training and improved patient safety.
