- Understand the value of mentorship for academic trainees
- Develop a strategy for implementing a regional mentorship scheme
- Appreciate how to make the most of a mentorship relationship from a mentee perspective
Session summary:
The NW Foundation School has run an academic foundation near-peer mentorship scheme for the past 2 years with ACF and ACL mentors. The aim of the session is to explain the rationale for the scheme, practicalities of setting one up and describe the experience from the mentee and mentor perspective.
The session should be of value to undergrads considering embarking on an academic foundation programme (AFP), AFP foundation doctors, ACFs/ACLs, FPDs, DMEs and foundation administrators.
