Abstracts information

Submitting an abstract

Abstract submissions are strongly encouraged from early career educators. 

  • Early Career – defined as Junior Doctor/Trainee/Other healthcare professional up to 5 years post-graduation; those on full-time PhD or Masters courses and receiving no salary.
  • Student – defined as undergraduate either full time / unwaged. 

When making your submission, consider the theme of the conference – “Education and training for a globally sustainable workforce - to meet the needs of the people we serve”.

The incorporation of Artificial Intelligence, academic training and educational research into any of the themes below are welcomed/encouraged.

General information

You can select your preferred delivery method when making your submission. 

Abstract submissions will be limited to a maximum of 2499 characters. 

We suggest you consider structuring your abstract as follows:

  • Background – this should set the context including why the innovation / development was introduced.
  • Methods – describe what was done and how it was evaluated. 
  • Outcomes – present the key findings which could include results or reflections. 
  • Learning points and take-home messages.

Should your content lend itself to a general paragraph format please feel free to submit in this fashion but still consider including learning points and take-home messages. 

About oral short communications

Oral short communications will be presented in person only.

Presentations are typically 15 minutes per abstract split into 10-12 presentation followed by 3-5 minutes for discussion.

Presentations will not be livestreamed, or available to view virtually during the conference.

All oral short communications will be made available post conference for on demand viewing. 

About posters

Posters will be available to view in person only.

Those abstracts deemed to be ‘stand out’ submissions will be invited to present within the “Spotlight on Posters” lunchtime oral session.  

Chosen posters will be physically displayed on A0 sized portrait boards. There will be no digital poster display although poster abstracts will be available via the conference app.

On Monday evening there will be a dedicated poster networking session. This will be an ideal session to discuss your poster with colleagues and conference attendees.

Key dates

Abstracts will be judged on academic rigour, originality, potential impact, communication, learning and educational value.  

Only one nominated author can present an abstract at the conference, although multiple authors are invited to attend to represent the work.

Registration and travel grants

Abstract presenters will all be required to register at the appropriate published rates.  No virtual options are available. No discounts will apply.
